My review of the drama Harley and the Davidsons
Share
Recently, while watching movie review programs on TikTok, I came across a review of "Harley and the Davidsons." As a Harley motorcycle enthusiast and a professional in motorcycle repair and diagnostic equipment, this series piqued my interest. Today, let's set aside the dramatization of history in the series and focus solely on the content presented.
Dreams
Harley and Davidson's journey began with the passion of two young men. When Davidson saw a young man on a bicycle holding onto a car, he instantly thought of putting an engine on a bicycle. He shared this idea with Harley, and together they tinkered and built an engine, mounting it on a bicycle, thus starting the legendary history of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Action
Harley and Davidson immediately drew up design plans and sought help to manufacture them, only to be rejected. Faced with ridicule, they didn't back down. They decided to do it themselves, starting the design and production of the engine in their abandoned storeroom. This is reminiscent of Apple's garage origin. They stole parts from factories, built their engine step by step, and stood up again after each failure and setback. I believe their strong action-oriented mindset was the foundation of their success.
Team Building
After failing due to insufficient precision in engine parts, they realized they needed investment. They found Davidson's cousin, Walter, and later brought in Charlie for sales. The growth of a team or company is often accompanied by the expansion of the team, bringing in new people to solve new problems.
Competition
The series highlights their competition with Indian Motorcycles. In reality, everyone and every company faces various hardships and challenges during growth. While it may not be as tangible as a motorcycle race, competing with others and overcoming oneself is the eternal theme of growth. We face various challenges and become stronger through competition. To this day, Indian Motorcycles still hold a market share. Their survival through competition and the similarity in their motorcycle styles and target markets make their stories fascinating.
